Maundy Thursday -- April 1, 2010
On Maundy Thursday, we engaged in a multi-sensory worship experience, following the steps of Jesus on his last night. I offered three short meditations, one to introduce each section of the service. The first was about the experience of footwashing, followed by a shared hand-washing. The second was about the Last Supper, followed by Holy Communion. The third was about the Passion, followed by a reading of Jesus' betrayal, arrest and trial while the altar and sanctuary were stripped of all decoration. All three focused on Jesus' body and our bodies. We ended with silence and some words of hope from Romans 8. The podcast includes all three of these meditations and their accompanying scriptures. It has been edited to shorten the silences and music during the hand-washing and communion services.
