To Be Great, Be Lowly -- February 28, 2010


This week's sermon continues our Lenten series on "The Upside-Down Logic of the Cross" by examining the story of James and John desiring to sit at Jesus' right and left hand in the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus responds not by condemning their desire, but by redefining greatness. This sermon draws much inspiration and quotation from the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous sermon, "The Drum Major Instinct." Scripture: Mark 10:35-45
