Holy Humor Sunday -- The Easter Story, as told by Broadway's Best

Every year on the Sunday after Easter, we celebrate Holy Humor Sunday. It is the ancient tradition of the "risus paschalis," the Easter laugh. On Easter morning, God played the world's greatest practical joke—fooling death, the devil and the powers of destruction. The only proper response is to join in God's laughter. So we do just that! We tell jokes, wear silly hats, play with noisemakers, sing funny songs and have a wonderful time. Instead of a sermon, this year the St. Luke's staff (Organist Martin Fendley, Student Pastor Karen Barth and Rev. Jennifer Mills-Knutsen) prepared a Broadway re-telling of the Easter story, paralleling John 20:1-18. It includes re-worked versions of hit songs from West Side Story, The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music. Enjoy!
